Doctor Who has been named as one of the top twenty shows to give adults nightmares in a new study of 2000 British adults, as reported in the The Gay UK, coming in 17th overall place.

Commissioned by bedding manufacturer Slumberdown, the study revealed that 61% of those surveyed had nightmares after watching a “scary” television show or film and that Crimewatch, the real crime appeals and reconstruction show (which ironically has the catch phrase “don’t have nightmares”), was surprisingly the show that gave most British adults nightmares - coming top of the poll.

Brand Manager Sally Hotchin said:

“Often, what you see, hear or do before going to bed can affect what you end up dreaming about and affect your quality of sleep. But this is bad news if you watch something which is a little on the scary or even gruesome side before you turn in for bed”

According to the study, Forty per cent resorted to watching a children’s television show or something light-hearted in an aid to calm them down before sleep.
