A federal MP in Australia has called upon the BBC to film Doctor Who in the country in 2015, what would be the ninth series.
George Christensen, MP for Dawson, will table a motion proposing that Screen Australia, ABC and various film funding bodies offer finance to the BBC to persuade them to film in the country.
Mr Christensen, who is a fan of the show, admits it will be one of the more unusual motions tabled in Parliament today but highlights the benefits of the show being filmed down under.
Doctor Who has already filmed in the United States and Spain in recent years, making such a move not beyond the realms of possibility.
As an update to the story, as provided by Mogwai on our Twitter feed, four MP’s spoke in favour of the motion with bipartisan support across the house.
