Nathan McMullen has spoken on his role in this years Doctor Who Christmas special and hinted at a possibly lighter episode for Christmas Day.
Speaking to Lorna Hughes of the Liverpool Echo, the former Misfits star said:
“My agent’s assistant put me up for it. He thought it would be something I’d enjoy. I’m not a die-hard Whovian fan so I did my research, went for the audition and a couple of weeks later I got the call. I was like ‘brilliant!’ It’s a bit of a funny one – I literally can’t say anything. I’m sworn to secrecy!”
The Christmas episode will also feature Nick Frost and Michael Troughton, both noted for their comedy turns in the likes of The Cornetto Trilogy and The New Statesman respectively.
“It’s weird having to keep it quiet. Usually I’m a bit of a loudmouth who tells everyone what I’m doing, but it’s nice having it like that so people can enjoy it at Christmas. Even if you’re not a fan of Doctor Who, it’s part of Christmas Day. It’s the first programme I’ve filmed that will be on at that time of year. Even at the read-through there was a jolly vibe because everyone knew that it was going to be on at Christmas.”
