The Night of the Doctor, featuring Paul McGann as the Doctor, made mention of several figures from the Big Finish Eighth Doctor range, officially canonising the audios, a very special moment for the company and highly deserved.
So let the debates begin! Is all of Big Finishes output now canon? Considering that McGann has crossed over with Doctors four, five, six and seven in the recent The Light at the End it would appear so.
However, if all of Big Finish is canon then Bernice Summerfield is canon which in turn makes The New Adventures canon. Not a problem… Until you come to Human Nature, which happened twice.
Paul also starred in The Company of Friends featuring book character Fitz Kreiner and comic Companion Izzy Sinclair, so has everything then been made canon?
We’re sure the debates on this will last years to come. You are an evil yet wonderful man Steven Moffat!
